Danville School

October 23, 2026
As we wrap up our ninth week of school, we are proud of the learning, growth, and connections taking place across our pK–12 community. The routines and relationships established during the first weeks of school continue to strengthen, helping students build confidence, develop independence, and take on new challenges.

October is a wonderful time to reflect on the importance of perseverance, belonging, and community. Learning looks different at every age and stage, and growth does not always happen in a straight line. As co-principals, we remain committed to supporting students academically, socially, and emotionally while maintaining high expectations and ensuring every student feels known, valued, and supported. We are grateful for the dedicated staff and families who partner with us to make this possible.

As the days grow cooler and Vermont's fall weather continues to change, please help students come to school prepared for outdoor activities and fluctuating temperatures. We will continue to take advantage of opportunities to learn, connect, and enjoy the outdoors whenever conditions allow.

Thank you for your continued trust, communication, and partnership. A strong school community is built through the collective efforts of students, families, staff, and community members, and we appreciate the many ways you contribute to Danville School.

We look forward to the learning and opportunities ahead!

With Gratitude,
Sarah Welch & Natalie Conway
Co-Principals

School Events / Information

Early Morning Drop off Reminder

Our doors open for early drop off at 7:30 AM. Please refrain from dropping students off until that time. We do not have supervision until then, and they will not be allowed in the building.

We understand and appreciate that families have to drop their students off so they can head to work, but as colder weather approaches, students who are dropped off before 7:30AM will have to wait outside until the doors are open for student arrival.

Fall Conferences

Our fall conferences are next week, on Wednesday, 10/28 and Thursday, 10/29, from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM both nights.

Conferences are in-person or remote. Please note which you would prefer when you schedule your conferences, or we will put you down for in-person conferences until we are told otherwise.
Please email or call Kassie and Jena to schedule your conferences.

There is no school on Friday, 10/30.

K-12th Grade Winter Sports Registration

The 2026-2027 winter athletic registration for Danville K-12th is now open!

Registration will temporarily close on Friday November 13th in order to gauge interest in each grade level.  It is very important to sign your child up as soon as possible so that the CCSU athletic department can gauge the need for coaches, equipment and uniforms.

Danville athletics offer the following opportunities for the winter season:

Danville:  K-2 basketball skills, 3/4th girls basketball, 3/4th boys basketball, 5/6th girls basketball, 5/6th boys basketball, 7/8th girls basketball, 7/8th boys basketball, 9-12th girls basketball, 9-12th, 9-12th boys basketball, 9-12th Cheer, 9-12th Indoor track and field.

Danville high school students have the opportunity to play sports at another high school as long as a CCSU school does not offer that opportunity.  Students interested in this opportunity (ice hockey, gymnastics, alpine and nordic skiing, dance, wrestling, snowboarding) should sign up as a Member to Member/Independent Participant and email the Athletic Director.

You can register your student at CCSU Student Life.

If you are in need of further instructions on how to sign your student up for CCSU Athletics please refer to this document:  CCSU Greetings from Family ID.

If you have any questions feel free to contact CCSU Athletic Director Randy Rathburn or CCSU Assistant Athletic Director Dana Welch.

Halloween Costumes

Students may wear Halloween costumes to school on October 29! As a PK–12 community, we ask students to choose costumes that are school-appropriate and considerate of our youngest learners. Please avoid costumes that may frighten younger students. Masks and fake weapons are not permitted. Thank you for helping us create a fun and inclusive Halloween celebration for all!

Annual Thanksgiving Lunch

We would like to invite you to join us at the upcoming Thanksgiving meal that is being held on Friday, November 13th!

Household Income Forms

We need every Danville School family to complete the household income verification form. We include this brief form annually during student registration. It asks for student names and whether the household income is below OR above a certain amount depending on the size of your family. Families do NOT need to share their exact income. The information goes to the state and is kept private.

WHY THIS MATTERS
Even though all VT students receive free meals, the distribution of this money is determined by data collected through the Household Income Forms families complete. The money we receive under the Title Grant programs supplement the schools’ existing programs without adding to the local tax rate. Our continued eligibility for Title Grant money depends yearly on families completing the Household Income Form. We depend on these grant monies. Every student benefits from our federal grants, and our school budget would look very different without federal grants.

Here are some examples of how this money benefits students in our schools:
· Books and learning materials for students
· Activities, field trips, and special programming for students
· Equipment, from snowshoes to technology, for students
· Showcases and celebrations of learning for families and students
· Hiring interventionists to support the academic growth of our students
· Professional development and materials for teachers and staff

HOW CAN YOU HELP?
Please complete the form today. It takes just a few minutes, and it ensures every student is properly counted, secures our state funding, and helps keep local tax rates lower.

Thank you in advance for continuing to fill out this form to help support our students.
