Curriculum, Instruction, & Assessment
Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment
The Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment Department supports our schools in providing engaging, thoughtful learning experiences for every student. Our work is guided by a commitment to equity, inclusion, and continuous improvement, helping all students grow as learners and community members.
We collaborate with teachers and school leaders to design curriculum that reflects Vermont’s education standards while also honoring local values, student voice, and real-world learning. Our goal is to make learning meaningful, challenging, and connected to the world beyond the classroom.
Assessment is an important part of this work. It helps teachers understand each student’s progress, celebrate strengths, and identify areas where more support may be needed. We use this information to guide instruction and make sure all students have what they need to succeed.
Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS)
Through our Multi-Tiered System of Supports, we work to meet the academic, social, and emotional needs of every student. MTSS helps us use data and collaboration to ensure that all learners get the right support at the right time. This framework reflects Vermont’s belief that every child can learn and deserves the opportunity to thrive in a caring, responsive school community.
Support for English Learners
We are proud to serve students from many language and cultural backgrounds. Our English Learner programs help students build English proficiency while continuing to engage in all areas of learning. We work closely with families and teachers to ensure that English learners feel welcomed, included, and supported in reaching their goals.
At the heart of our work is a shared purpose: to nurture curiosity, confidence, and a love of learning in every student. Together, as a community, we help our students grow into capable, compassionate citizens of Vermont and the wider world.

Our Continuous Improvement Plan (CIP) guides how we support learning, student well-being, and school success across all of our schools. It helps us understand what students need, set shared priorities, and take coordinated actions to make things better for every learner in our district.
The CIP follows the Vermont Agency of Education’s guidelines, ensuring that our decisions are informed by data and evidence. Our goal is to create positive, lasting changes that help all students thrive, feel supported, and stay engaged in learning.
Each of our schools develops goals and strategies that align with this district-wide plan. Together, these efforts ensure continuous growth and improvement across all grade levels and learning environments.
