August 25, 2025
Dear Families,
The Walden Staff would like to welcome you all to this new school year. Our first day of school is Wednesday, August 27th. Students will be welcomed into the school at 7:30. Breakfast will be served from 7:30-8:00. Classroom community building and instruction begin at 8:00. We can’t wait to see our students come back taller, tanner, and refreshed and ready for a great year.
Speaking of the Walden Staff, we have had some changes this year that will allow us to give our best to your children. We welcome:
Chantelle Micheli as our new kindergarten teacher
Jill Bell and
Jodi Baker will be team-teaching the first and second grades in Literacy & Math
Travis Hill will be the homeroom teacher, Science and C3 for grades 3-4, and Math to grades 3-6
Katey Foster will be the homeroom teacher, Science and C3 for grades 5-6, and Literacy for
grade 6
Kim Larose will be teaching Literacy for grades 3-5 and supporting grade 6 literacy.
Our Welcome Back Popsicle Party is Tuesday, August 26th, from 2-3 pm for all families who would like to come, get a sneak peek, and say hi before the first day of school. We’d love to see you! (The first invitation sent had the date right, but the day advertised was wrong)
We feel it is important for you to know that our district has implemented a no-device procedure for this year. Here is a link to that procedure:
CCSU's Device-Free Plan and Procedures This means all devices should stay home during the school day. If they do need to come to school, the children will be directed to leave them with the administrative assistant, where they will be stored safely in a pocket chart marked with the student’s name in the office, where they will remain until dismissal.
In case you don’t have a school calendar for this year, here is a

Sadly, our new principal,
Jessica Kenyon’s family experienced the tragedy on Friday of losing their home to fire. We are glad to report that family and pets are safe, and the Red Cross and the community in Lunenburg are offering support. We are all looking to be supportive, caring, and patient as they work through the next steps to getting settled and secure in their housing situation. We will let you know if and when we can offer help or resources. In the meantime, administrators from CCSU will be offering their time and leadership to help us start the year off successfully. If you have any questions, please contact Superintendent Matt Foster at matt.foster@ccsuvt.net
Let’s team up to make it a great year for our children and families.
